Promote their pursuit of their passions, skills and interests
Enable their access to and exploration of spaces where these can be pursued
Help them overcome personal and/or institutional obstacles

Sacramento County Office of Education, My Brother’s Keeper Sacramento and MENTOR California invite you to join us for our Artist and Mentor MIXer! We desire to create a space for mentors and artists to come together to build a community of support for our youth. We know that our young people need adult protective relationships like formalized mentoring to succeed. Combining mentors and artists will create places for young people to grow, and share their experiences through the Arts. These mentoring relationships are an integral part of mental wellness and youth success in our community. The MIX will serve as a way to continue to feed this vital community.
In September of 2020, the City of Sacramento and the Sacramento County Office of Education, partnered to use CARES Act funding to pilot a collaborative that systematized the integration between mentoring, arts and mental health services. The initial focus of the collaborative was to address the Social Emotional and Mental Health needs of students in the Sacramento area in neighborhoods most at risk from COVID-19 related impacts as a result of school closures and isolation.
Sacramento Healthy HeARTs is a Tier II intervention program that addresses the social, emotional and mental health needs of students in the Sacramento area offering:
Trained mentors working alongside artists and providing one-on-one check-ins with participating students
Artist residencies with trained artists in SEL, mentoring, and arts integration strategies.
