Milton Bowens, known as Milton 510, is an Oakland-born artist whose work explores history, culture, and social justice. His collections, including “Afro Classical” and “Art of Education,” have been featured in academic settings such as Cornell and UC Davis. A recipient of honors from the California Legislative Black Caucus and California Lawyers for the Arts, his art is part of major collections including the Crocker Art Museum, CAAM, UC Berkeley, and the Chase Center. He has exhibited and lectured at over two dozen colleges, currently serves as lead teaching artist for the Sacramento County Office of Education, and co-owns Gallery 157 in Moulton, Alabama, with his wife, artist Daphne Burgess.
